Forensic accounting is a very specialised area of accountancy. A forensic accountant is usually engaged as a result of actual or anticipated disputes or litigation. The term "forensic" means "suitable for use in a court of law" and forensic accountants, also described as investigative auditors or forensic auditors, regularly provide expert evidence in court on behalf of clients or organisations.

At Westboro Partners, there are a number of areas in which our forensic accoutants regularly provide expertise. These include cases involving

  • Matrimonial dispute
  • Loss of earnings
  • Insurance claims
  • Personal injury
  • Fraud
  • Commercial disputes
  • Partnership and shareholder disputes.

We work closely with clients and their legal teams in all areas of legal dispute. Applying a methodical and professional approach to each case, we use our understanding of financial reporting systems to ensure that every aspect of each file is accurately established.

Our expertise and experience in the preparation of reports, evidence gathering and investigative techniques for use in the legal process is extensive, and our qualified forensic accountancy partner has significant experience as an expert witness across a number of cases.

Matrimonial Disputes

Matrimonial disputes are often highly sensitive, and at Westboro Partners we take a highly professional but also personal approach to each case.

We have been engaged in matrimonial and family law cases, assisting both claimants and defendants in the separation process in relation to spousal support, determining income available for child support, business valuation and equitable distribution. Our expertise in this area includes:

Personal Injuries & Loss of Earnings

In personal injury and loss of earnings cases, it is of vital importance to quantify the financial consequences of the incident which has led to the case. Our role is to quantify the financial loss to the client and establish key financial issues on your behalf in an investigation, dispute or possibly legal case.

Again our expertise in the area of financial reporting and our understanding of accountancy processes ensure that our clients are fully prepared with accurate information for the case. We will assess and prepare loss of earnings calculations in all manner of circumstances. Expertise like ours is a necessity in cases where the relevant party has unpredictable income sources, several sources of income, or is perhaps self-employed.

Working with your legal team, we will prepare financial reports and will be on hand to attend court as an expert witness if so required.

If you would like to talk to us about a personal injury case, or a loss of earnings case, please call us in confidence - Mary Power,
